A Minnesota foster parent has been arrested in connection with injuries of a 16-month-old in her care.
A few weeks ago we first told you about a child who was recovering from serious injuries he apparently got while in foster care. His mother reached out to Valley News Live to investigate and we found that the child was in the Fargo Sanford hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
The child's foster parent, Arlene Duncan of Waubun, Minnesota, has been arrested in conjunction with the case. Duncan faces one count of first degree assault and two counts of malicious punishment of a child.
Valley News Live spoke to the boy's mother, who says he is out of the Intensive Care Unit but still in the hospital and waiting for another surgery.
The FBI says it is investigating a child that was injured while in foster care on the White Earth reservation. FBI spokesman Kyle Loven says they are working with the Mahnomen county sheriff, the BCA and White Earth tribal police to gather more facts on the case. Authorities say this is being investigated as a case of "injury to a child."
Loven says the child was in foster care when the injuries occurred and the baby boy was taken to a hospital in Fargo. The child's mother tells Valley News Live that her son is in the intensive care unit.
The investigation is ongoing and so far no arrests have been made.
