DENVER – The foster mother of a man accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old Denver girl last year has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. Sylvia Luckett, 72, will be sentenced on June 28 after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of perjury. According to prosecutors, Luckett’s foster son, Brett Lee Thompson, kidnapped the 8-year-old as she was playing with friends in an alley on June 2, 2011. After allegedly assaulting her, prosecutors say Thompson dropped off the girl at a gas station. Luckett was accused of lying to police to help Thompson flee the state and initially faced an accessory charge. Thompson was arrested eleven days later in New Jersey. His case is still pending.
