BELLAIRE, Mich. — A 70-year-old Western Michigan man who served as a foster parent for four decades has been convicted on 10 counts of sexual assault.
The jury deliberated less than an hour Monday before returning multiple guilty verdicts against Jere Clark for assaulting female childen in his care.
Clark will be sentenced Oct. 17. Prosecutors said they expect that he will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Clark had been a foster parent to more than 60 children, some of whom he adopted, since the early 1980s. In March, a teenager told authorities he sexually assaulted her over a five-year period. Other women came forward with similar stories after publicity about his initial arrest.
